Dear readers, as New Year approaches fast, I want to share with you a prayer about the importance and urgency of repentance, because we never know when our own death and judgement will come. Then, it will be too late to ask God for forgiveness and to start changing our lives…
Too late?
* But the tax-collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
* Isaac said, “I am now an old man and don’t know the day of my death (Genesis 27:2; NIV).
* Who can Iive and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave? (Psalm 89;48; NIV).
My Lord and my God,
Here I am,
Empty-handed before you,
As always.
I’m sorry I have nothing to show
For my time on Earth.
You know everything there is
To know about me.
I have nothing to say in my defence,
Except that I love you.
I searched for you,
And tried to help others
As best I could,
To no avail.
I’m sorry for all my sins, Lord.
Have mercy on me,
And forgive me.
Help me to change,
And start again.
Surely it’s not too late?
