Love

Hello, readers. Yesterday we had the biggest storm I’ve ever known. Huge waves crashed over the
sea-wall right outside our house. A small amount of water came indoors, despite our defences (bags of compost and an old dressing-gown). The electricity went off, then there was a terrible smell of gas, so I had to dial 999 for the emergency services. Just before all that happened, during my quiet time, I wrote this prayer, which could hardly offer a greater contrast to the tumultuous conditions outside:

Love

*  And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Father,
You draw me into your realm
Of peace,
Light,
Infinite space,
Timelessness,
And unity –
A realm entirely suffused
With your love.

    • Friday’s storm has passed, leaving a lot of mess behind – but the harbour-master has predicted just as damaging a high tide for today! At least we have some sandbags now, so I’m very grateful for that. The most surprising thing, in a way, was how exhausted we were the following day! XXXX
