Why do you love me?

Hello, readers. I can understand that God loves his people. After all, he creates us, and sustains our lives each day. However, I find it much more challenging to wonder why he should love me as an individual, despite what I am.

Why do you love me?

* O Lord, what are human beings that you regard them, or mortals that you think of them? They are like a breath; their days are like a passing shadow (Psalm 144:3-4, NRSV).
* “I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired hands” (Luke 15:19; NIV).
* God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Father,
Why do you love me,
The least of your people?

You know what I have been,
And what I am.
You know all my sins.

You know how foolish, weak,
And ignorant I am.

You know everything there is
To know about me.
So why do you bother with me?

Now I see!
It’s because you are love.
Your very nature is to love.

Lord, thank you for loving me.
Please forgive all my sins.
Help me to live for you,
And serve you.

In the name of your dear Son,
Amen.
