* This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:10; NIV).
* In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! (Philippians; 2:5-8; NIV).
*Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13; NIV).
Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of the Living God,
The Magi brought you gifts of
Gold, frankincense and myrrh.
We too bow down before you,
Acknowledging your divinity,
And obedience to death.
For you made yourself the servant of all,
Laying down your life
So our sins can be forgiven,
And opening the very gates of heaven to us.
Thank you for giving us yourself,
Our Lord and our God.
