Unworthy

Unworthy

But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, “God have mercy on me, a sinner”
(Luke 18:13; NIV).

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17; NIV).

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities (Psalm 103:10; NRSV).

But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy
(Titus 3:4-5; NIV).

Father,
I am a sinner –
Not worthy
To love you,
Pray to you,
Or approach you.

Yet you invite me
To join you,
Welcoming me
With open arms –
Not a word
Of reproach.

How merciful
And kind you are,
My Lord
And my God!
