Faith

Faith

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see
(Hebrews 11:1; NIV).

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe” (John 20:29; NIV).

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth (Psalm 145:18; NIV).

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength (Mark 12:30).

Faith isn’t about
Feeling close to God,
Or having
Amazing spiritual experiences –
Though such things
Are always wonderful.

It’s about trusting him
In good times and bad,
Knowing he is with us,
And loving him
With all our heart, soul,
Mind and strength –
Whether we feel his presence
Or not.

All

All

Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins (Psalm 103:2-3; NIV).

My son, do not despise the LORD’S discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in (Proverbs 3:11-12; NIV).

Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths (Psalm 25:4; NIV).

It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him
(Deuteronomy 13:4; NIV).

Lord,
I love you so much.

Please forgive all my sins,
Correct all my faults,
Teach me all I need to know,
And help me to serve you.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Here I am

Here I am

Then the LORD called Samuel. Samuel answered, “Here I am” (1 Samuel 3:4; NIV).

…your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10 NIV).

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word
(Luke 1:38; KJV).

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Here I am, Lord –
Do with me
As you will.

Whatever my circumstances,
Please help me
To rejoice,
Pray
And thank you continually;
For this is your will for me
In Christ Jesus,
Your Son.

Amen.

Service

Service

“Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me”
(Matthew 10:38; NIV).

“Whoever serves me must follow me” (John 12:26; NIV).

Father,
You know how sinful,
Weak,
Ignorant
And foolish I am.

Please show me your will,
Equip me to serve you,
And help me to follow your Son
To the very best of my ability.

In his holy name,
Amen.

In God’s hands

In God’s hands

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5; NIV).

Love your neighbour as yourself (Luke 10:27; NIV).

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others (1 Peter 4:10; NIV).

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love (Galatians 5:6; NIV).

Praying for others
Means seeing them
In God’s hands,
Whilst asking him to help,
Bless,
Comfort
And heal them –
Then doing our best
To show them
How much we care.

Close

Close

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge (Psalm 73:28; NIV).

…he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:5; NIV).

…he is not far from any one of us (Acts 17:27; NIV).

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth (Psalm 145:18; NIV).

Come near to God and he will come near to you (James 4:8; NIV).

Pray in the Spirit at all times (Ephesians 6:18; NRSV).

Father,
You are my refuge.

Thank you for staying
Close to me,
All the time.

Please help me
To stay close to you,
As well.

Help me to remember your presence,
Follow the example of your Son,
See you in everyone I meet,
And pray continually in the Spirit.

Father,
You are my refuge.

Thank you for staying
Close to me
All the time.

Please help me
To stay close to you,
As well.

Need

Need

…he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else (Acts 17:25; NIV).

‘For in him we live and move and have our being’ (Acts 17:28; NIV).

God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us (Acts 17:27; NIV).

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God” (Psalm 14:1; NIV).

Father,
You make us all,
Giving us life and breath.

In you we live and move,
And have our being.

Please help us
To seek you,
Reach out to you,
And find you,
For you are not far
From any one of us.

Lord, we need you so much –
Especially those of us
Who think we don’t need you
At all!

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Today

Today

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NIV).

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7; NIV).

Lord,
Please enable me
To serve you today
In some way,
However small.

Help me never to sin against you,
To deny you,
Or to hurt you in any way,
But to remember you,
Rejoice in you,
Pray to you,
Thank you,
And worship you
All day long.

I ask this in Jesus’ precious name,
Amen.

The Glory of God

 The Glory of God

Simeon took him [Jesus] in his arms and praised God, saying, “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel (Luke 2:28-32; NIV).

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12; NIV).

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being (Hebrews 1:3; NIV).

Jesus is
The light of the world,
The Son of God,
And the radiance
Of his glory.

He is the exact representation
Of God’s being,
A light for revelation
To the Gentiles,
And the glory of his people,
Israel.

Beloved

Beloved

“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am” (John 13:13; NIV).

My beloved is mine and I am his (Song of Songs 2:16; NIV).

…as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will God rejoice over you (Isaiah 62:5; NIV).

He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Saviour’ (Psalm 89:26; NIV).

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you (Isaiah 66:13; NIV).

I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God (Isaiah 45:5; NIV).

Teacher, Master,
Friend and Brother,

Saviour, Guardian,
Bridegroom, Lover,

Rock, Defender,
Father, Mother,

Lord, my God –
I want no other.
