Good and ill

Good and ill

“Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” (Job 2:10; NIV).

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised (Job 1:21; NIV).

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NIV).

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God (2 Corinthians 1:3-4; NIV).

Father,
Please help us
To accept what you send,
Both good and ill,
To thank you for it,
Make the best of it,
Learn from it,
And use it to help others
In every way we can.

Through Jesus’ name.
Amen.
