Anxiety

Anxiety

Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer (Psalm 4:1; NIV).

My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long? (Psalm 6:3; NIV).

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42; NIV).

Father,
Have mercy on me
And hear my prayer!

This constant anxiety
Is a cancer in my soul,
Destroying any chance
Of inner peace or joy.

If you are willing,
Please take it from me;
Yet not my will
But yours be done.

Lord,
If I must suffer this distress,
Please help me
To face and listen to it,
Learning all it has to teach me.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
