Contemplation

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you (Psalm 63:1; NIV).

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10; NIV).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

If you seek [God], he will be found by you (1 Chronicles 28:9; NIV).

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard you hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7; NIV).

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives
(John 14:27; NIV).

Lord,
When I reach out to you
With all my heart,
I find myself at peace beside you –
Far beyond fear.

Lord,
When I reach out to you
With all my soul,
I find myself at peace beside you –
Far beyond grief.

Lord,
When I reach out to you
With all my mind,
I find myself at peace beside you –
Far beyond woe.

Lord,
When I reach out to you
With all my strength,
I find myself at peace beside you –
Far beyond pain.

Lord,
When this time for contemplation ends,
May your peace and presence
Stay with me –
No matter what life brings.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen
