From war to peace
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them (1 John 4:16; NIV).
Follow the way of love (1 Corinthians 14.1; NIV).
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34; NIV).
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33; NLT).
Father,
Why do we hate and fear
Each other so much?
Why do we want to drive out
And destroy
Those whose faith, colour,
Or customs
Are different from our own?
Lord,
You are love,
And your way
Is the way of love.
Anything else
Is a tragic misunderstanding
Of your nature
And commandments.
Help us to move
From war to peace –
With you,
Within ourselves,
And with our brothers and sisters
All around the world.
