Today’s blog is a completely unexpected development from yesterday’s…
Speaking the truth
…speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).
Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart
(Proverbs 3:3; NLT).
Pray for those who hurt you (Luke 6:28; NLT).
…forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us (Luke 11:4; NLT).
Father,
Thank goodness
I’m not a helpless child
Any more!
Thank you for showing me
That I no longer have to feel
Silenced, trapped and scared
When someone starts hectoring me,
Raising their voice,
Trying to impose their opinions on me
And to dominate me.
Thank you for giving me
The words I need to use:
Sorry to interrupt you,
But I’m feeling trapped and scared,
So I’m going to end
This conversation now.
Then I will walk away,
Or put down the phone,
Or end our correspondence.
Lord, please tie these words
Around my neck as a reminder,
And write them deep within my heart.
Help me to speak the truth with love
To those who scare me,
Then to withdraw from them
Without delay.
Afterwards,
Please help me to forgive them,
To pray for them,
And to get some healthy boundaries
In place with them!
I ask all this in Jesus’ name,
Amen.
