Prayer for the day

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart (Isaiah 40;11; NLT).

“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders” (Luke 15:4-5; NLT).

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost” (Luke 19:10; NLT).

Please keep me
In your arms today,
And hold me
Close to your heart.

But if I wander off
Into the wilderness,
Please search me out,
And carry me home
On your shoulders.

And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him (Hebrews 10:21-2; NLT).

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice (Psalm 55:17; KJV).

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God (1 John 4:15; NIV).

And so I walk in the LORD’S presence as I live here on earth! (Psalm 116:9; NLT).

Prayer is a journey
Into my soul,
And into your presence.

May I walk with you
Morning, noon and night,
For ever more.

In Jesus’ name,

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him (Romans 15:13; NLT).

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NLT).

You fill my mind
With hope.

May it stay with me
Day and night,
To help me praise you.

You fill my heart
With joy.

May it stay with me
Day and night,
To help me thank you.

You fill my soul
With peace.

May it stay with me
Day and night,
To help me worship you.

In Jesus’ name,

Up and down

Up and down

The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread on the heights (Habakkuk 3:19; NLT).

From the depths of despair, O LORD, I call for your help (Psalm 130:1; NLT).

If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there
(Psalm 139:8; NLT).

When my soul climbs up
To the heights,
You are there;

And when it goes down
To the depths,
You are there.

Wherever I go,
You are always there
To meet me.

How wonderful you are,
My Lord,
And my God!

Tough love

Tough love

When the crowds came to John for baptism, he said, “You brood of snakes! Who warned you to flee God’s coming wrath?” (Luke 3:7; NLT).

“Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him (Matthew 9:9; NLT).

‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ ” (Mark 12:31; NLT).

“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you” (Luke 6:27-8; NLT).

God’s love is tough,
He tells us straight,
And warns us of
His wrath to come.

We need to listen
To his voice,
And try to follow
His dear Son;

To say we’re sorry,
And to change,
Love friends and neighbours
As our own;

Love those who hate us,
Those who harm;
Then he will save,
And lead us home.

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me (Psalm 42:7; NIV).

The mighty waters engulfed me; I was buried beneath your wild and stormy waves (Jonah 2:3; NLT).

But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore – the LORD above is mightier than these (Psalm 93:4; NLT).

Kings will stand speechless in his presence (Isaiah 52:15; NLT).

In contemplation,
I surf my breathing.

Again and again,
I try to catch a wave
And ride it towards you;
But a sea of problems
Swamps me,
Dragging me down
Into the depths.

From time to time,
The surge lifts me up,
Sweeping me effortlessly
Into your presence,
And dropping me at your feet,
Where I am lost for words.

“Can a person do anything to help God? Can even a wise person be helpful to him?”  (Job 22:2; NLT).

“I am God, your God! […] If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it” (Psalm 50:7,12; NLT).

I’m sorry I’m no use to you.

I can only be me –
Battered and bruised by life,
With a damaged body
And mind.

Thank you for loving me
Just as I am.

In Jesus’ name,

Now seek the LORD your God with all your heart and soul (1 Chronicles 22:19; NLT).

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

The Lord your God is a devouring fire (Deuteronomy 4:24; NLT).

Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve him only’ ” (Luke 4:8; NLT).

Please help me
To put everything aside,
As I step into the clouds,
To seek you alone.

Please help me
To put everything aside,
As I step into the darkness,
To spend time with you alone.

Please help me
To put everything aside,
As I step into the fire,
To worship you alone.

In Jesus’ name,

Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him (Deuteronomy 13:4; NLT).

Please help me
To fear you alone,
Listen to you alone,
Obey you alone,
Serve you alone,
And cling to you alone.

In Jesus’ name,

Fear, freedom and power

Hi, everyone,  there are two related blogs for the price of one today…

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety (Proverbs 29:25; NLT).

Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone (Deuteronomy 13:4; NLT).

Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty (Ecclesiastes 12:13; NLT).

Fearing people
Is a dangerous trap,
But fearing you,
Trusting you,
And obeying your commands,
Brings safety.

Freedom and power

Instead, we will speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).

My newfound sense
Of freedom and power
Lies in being able to express
Things I previously didn’t dare
To voice at all.

Thank you so much
For my progress!
