A hermit’s prayer

A hermit’s prayer

“You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.” And, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ (Luke 10:27; NLT).

Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple. She was the daughter of Phanuel from the tribe of Asher, and she was very old. Her husband died when they had been married only seven years. Then she lived as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the Temple but stayed there day and night, worshipping God with fasting and prayer (Luke 2:36-7; NLT).

Lord,
May my mind be a refuge,
Where I can dedicate my life
To praising you;

May my heart be a haven,
Where I can dedicate my life
To loving you;

And may my soul be a hermitage,
Where I can dedicate my life
To serving you.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
