God’s hand
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand (1 Peter 5:6; NIV).
In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind (Job 12:10; NIV).
…when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things (Psalm 104:28; NLT).
…when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust (Psalm 104:29; NLT).
For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NLT).
The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD (Job 1:21; NLT).
Lord,
My life
Is in your hand.
When you open it,
I am satisfied
With good things.
When you close it,
I will die
And turn to dust.
Then my spirit
Will return to you,
Who gave it,
And I will praise your name
For evermore –
In paradise.
