Temptation
And “don’t sin by letting anger control you” (Ephesians 4: 26; NLT).
People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison (James 3:7-8; NLT).
And don’t let us yield to temptation (Matthew 6:13; NLT).
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).
Lord,
When we’re angry,
We can so easily
Hurt others
With our silence,
Words,
Or actions –
So please help us
To resist temptation,
And to speak the truth
In love.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
