FLOGGING

Flogging

They will flog him with a whip and kill him, but on the third day he will rise again (Luke 18:33; NLT).

Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip (John 19:1; NLT).

They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go. […] And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah” (Acts 5:40-42; NLT).

“For you will be treated as you treat others” (Matthew 7:2; NLT).

“And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’ And they will go away into eternal punishment” (Matthew 25:45-6; NLT).

Lord,
We can’t destroy
Freedom of thought
By flogging people
Whose ideas we don’t like;

But if we could,
What would it say about us,
And what punishment would await us
After our death?
