But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there (Psalm 51:6; NLT).
LORD, you are searching for honesty (Jeremiah 5:3; NLT).
Pay attention to my prayer, for it comes from honest lips (Psalm 17:1; NLT).
An honest answer is like a kiss of friendship (Proverbs 24:26; NLT).
But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities (Luke 16:10; NLT).
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).
Father,
If we can’t be honest
With ourselves,
We can’t be honest
In our prayers.
And if we can’t be honest
In our prayers,
We can’t be honest
With you.
And if we can’t be honest
With you,
Well –
When can we be honest?
Lord,
Please help us
To speak the truth with love,
So we grow more and more
Like your dear Son.
We ask this in his precious name,
Amen.
