Friendship

So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God (Romans 5:11; NLT).

“I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me (John 15:15; NLT).

If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it (Psalm 50:12; NLT).

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8; NLT).

Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’  And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me’ ” (Matthew 25:44-45; NIV).

Lord God,
You are my closest friend
In every way –
Except that I can do nothing
In return for all your love.

Instead, please help me
To see,
And love,
And serve you
In everyone I meet.

Through Jesus’ name,
Amen.
