Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14; NLT).
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ
(Ephesians 4:15; NLT).
Lord,
At last I start to understand that toxic people vary
In terms of what they want to get from me:
Some long to lean upon me heavily,
While others yearn to cling on for dear life.
Some aim to make full use of me,
While others hope to tag along behind.
Some try to dominate and bully me,
While others play for sympathy and care.
Some like to talk, and never think to listen;
While others always take, but never give…
So now I’m learning to say no, Lord,
Although this major triumph is hard-won –
Please help me to stand my ground and guard my boundaries,
By speaking the truth with love, just like your Son.
