Contemplation

“I can do nothing on my own” (John 5:30; NLT).

“Help me, O LORD” (Psalm 30:10; NLT).

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image (2 Colossians 3:18; NIV).

Show us your unfailing love, O LORD (Psalm 85:7; NLT).

May his grace be with all of you (2 Timothy 4:22; NLT).

Lord,
I can do nothing
On my own.

Please help me now
To contemplate your glory –

For my drifting thoughts
Obliterate your voice;

The pictures in my mind
Obscure your face;

My small preoccupations
Block your presence;

My anxieties
Shut out your love and grace.

Lord,
I can do nothing
On my own.

Please help me now
To contemplate your glory.

I ask all this
Through Jesus’ name,
Amen.
