Contemplation

Seek his face always (Psalm 105:4; NIV).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face
(1 Corinthians 13:12; NRSV).

Father,
As I seek your face
In contemplation,
My mind drifts off repeatedly.

Every time I realise this has happened,
I gently bring it back,
Seeking your face in silence,
Once again.

I’ve done this
Countless times before,
And will continue, if I can,
Until life’s end.

Then I will see you
Face to face, at last,
With nothing to distract me
From your glory, Lord!
