My Father’s house has many rooms (John 14:2; NIV).
Grow to maturity (2 Corinthians 13:11; NLT).
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).
Why is there no room
For spiritual development
In so many of our churches, Lord?
It’s as if we’re all meant to stay
At the same basic stage –
Unquestioning,
Conforming,
Always submitting
To those in ‘authority’,
Rather than exploring you
For ourselves.
This makes us easy to control,
But, sadly, it discourages us
From growing to maturity,
And becoming more like
Your dear Son.
