“God, have mercy on me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13; NIV).
He has sent me … to proclaim freedom for the captives (Isaiah 61:1; NIV).
I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10; NRSV).
The time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God. This is because they have never known the Father or me (John 16:2-3; NLT).
Lord,
I pray for those who value spoken worship,
And for those who love silence;
For those who prostrate themselves before you,
And for those who simply bow their heads;
For those who say long, formal prayers,
And for those who only whisper, ‘Lord, have mercy’;
For those who want freedom for themselves alone,
And for those who want abundant life for all;
For those who slaughter others in your name,
And for the families and friends of those they kill.
I ask all this through Jesus’ holy name,
Amen.
