Please heal us

He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases (Psalm 103:3; NLT).

They shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more (Isaiah 2:4; KJV).

…………………………………………………………………………

Lord God,

Please heal our suffering,
Our sickness,
And our wounds.

Please heal our ignorance,
Our weakness,
And our faults.

Please heal our selfishness,
Our violence,
And our wars.

I seek you out

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy (Psalm 100:2; NLT).

Break out in praise and sing for joy! (Psalm 98:4; NLT).

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind (Luke 10:27; NLT).

…………………………………………………….

I seek you out
Till my heart breaks with sadness,

And worship you
Until it bursts with joy.

I praise your name
Till my heart fills with wonder,

And love you, Lord,
Until it overflows.

You’re beside us

The Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me (Psalm 16:8; NLT).

There is […] one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

God is Spirit (John 4:24; NLT).

The Lord is near (Philippians 4:5; NIV).

…………………………………………………………………………………….

You’re beside us,
And within us, all the time, Lord,
And when we die
Our spirits merge with yours;

So we’re never far from you,
Or those we’ve lost, Lord,
But very near, forever,
Just like you.

Peace

I am tired of living among people who hate peace (Psalm 120:6; NLT).

Is this the way you repay the Lord, you foolish and senseless people? (Deuteronomy 32:6; NLT).

Native-born Israelites and foreigners are equal before the Lord (Numbers 15:15; NLT).

You are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28; NLT).

…………………………………………………………………………

I pray for peace
Throughout this foolish world,

For all are equal, Lord,
And all are one

With you, our Maker,
And with one another;

So when we hate our fellows,
We hate you, Lord,

And when we hate you, Lord,
We hate ourselves.

Every breath

He himself gives everyone life and breath (Acts 17:25; NIV).

……………………………………………….

Lord,

I depend on you
For every breath,
Every heartbeat,
Every drop of my blood,
And every moment of my life.

Whatever happens

Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16; NIV).

I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart (John 14:27; NLT).

…………………………………………………………………………..

Whatever happens
To my flesh,
And bones,
And blood, Lord,

May I have
Peace of mind,
And heart,
And soul.

Consequences

If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone (Matthew 18:15; NRSV).

So then, putting away all falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbours, for we are members of one another. Be angry but do not sin (Ephesians 4:25-6).

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us (Luke 11:4; NLT).

Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44; NIV).

……………………………………………………………………………..

Lord God,
When someone hurts me,
I talk to them about it privately.

If they don’t apologise,
Or even acknowledge
The harm they’ve done,
I can forgive them,
And I can pray for them –

But I can’t relate to them
As if the damage they did
To our relationship
Has been resolved.

Blasphemy

You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God (Exodus 20:7; NLT).

They blaspheme you; your enemies misuse your name (Psalm 139:20; NLT).

…………………………………………………………………..

Lord God,
I hope you have a name
Unknown to us,
So we can never use it
To blaspheme.

Conflict

I tremble in fear of you (Psalm 119:120; NLT).

I love you, Lord (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

………………………………………..

Lord,
During meditation
I experience a conflict

Between fearing you –
So longing to turn back,

And loving you –
So longing to go on,

Until I dare
To lose my self,

In unity
With you.

Mirror

We will be like him (1 John 3:2; NLT).

The Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image (2 Corinthians 3:18; NLT).

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him (Colossians 3:10; NLT).

God made human beings in his own image (Genesis 9:6; NLT).

…………………………………………………..

Lord,
May I become
So much like you
That when I look
Into a mirror
I see you,
And not myself.
