What if?

The Son of Man came to seek […] those who are lost (Luke 19:10; NLT).

I earnestly seek for God (Isaiah 26:9; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

I love you, Lord (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

…………………………………………………………………….

What if you want me,
Just as I want you, Lord?

What if you miss me,
Just as I miss you?

What if you need me,
Just as I need you, Lord?

What if you trust me,
Just as I trust you?

What if you seek me,
Just as I seek you, Lord?

What if you find me,
Just as I find you?

What if you hear me,
Just as I hear you, Lord?

What if you love me,
Just as I love you?

I wait for you

Wait until the Lord comes (1 Corinthians 4:5; NIV).

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him (Psalm 62:5; NLT).

………………………………………………………..

I wait for you
In stillness, Lord;
I wait for you
In hope.

I wait for you
In silence, Lord;
I wait for you
In love.

I wait for you
In beauty, Lord;
I wait for you
In light.

I wait for you
In life, Lord;
And I wait for you
In death.

The purpose of life

Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it! (Genesis 28:16; NLT).

The Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image (2 Corinthians 3:18; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17).

If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us (1 John 4:12; NIV).

…………………………………………………

The purpose of life

Is to become

More and more aware

Of God,

Who lives within us.

The purpose of life

Is to become

More and more

Like God,

Who lives within us.

The purpose of life

Is to become

More and more at one

With God,

Who lives within us.

I live for you

Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them” (John 14:23; NLT).

There is one Lord […] who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17).

…………………………………………………………………………

Lord God,
I live for you,
And you for me.

Lord God,
I dwell in you,
And you in me.

Lord God,
I pray through you,
And you through me.

Lord God,
I rest in you,
And you in me.

Lord God,
I serve through you,
And you through me.

Lord God,
I’m one with you,
And you with me.

Except for sin

Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us (Genesis 1:26; NLT).

It was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters (Hebrews 2:17; NLT).

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin (Hebrews 4:15; NLT).

……………………………………………………………………………………

Lord Jesus,
You faced
All that we experience,
And more –

For you’re like us
In every way,
Except for sin.

You share and understand

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered (Hebrews 5:8; NLT).

In all their suffering he also suffered (Isaiah 63:9; NLT).

So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates (Hebrews 13:12; NLT).

For we do not have a great high priest who is unable to empathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are (Hebrews 4:15; NLT).

…………………………………………………………………………………….

Lord,
May it comfort us
To know that
You’ve been tempted,

And that you share,
And understand,
Our human trials.

May it comfort us
To know that
You have suffered,

And that you share,
And understand,
Our human pain.

To seek you

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed (John 20:28; NLT).

Love him and serve him with all your heart and soul (Deuteronomy 10:12; NLT).

……………………………………………..

To seek you
Is to find you,
Lord, my God;

And to find you
Is to seek you
Every day.

To love you
Is to serve you,
Lord, my God;

And to serve you
Is to love you
Every day.

My source

1. The Lord will be your permanent source of light (Isaiah 60:19; NET).

2. God [is] the source of hope (Romans 15:13; NLT).

3. My God is my source of strength (Isaiah 49:5; NET).

……………………………………………………………………

You are my source of light,
And peace, and truth, Lord –

Restored in contemplation,
Every day.

You are my source of faith,
And hope, and love, Lord –

Renewed in contemplation,
Every day.

You are my source of strength,
And joy, and life, Lord –

Refreshed in contemplation,
Every day.

Held in silence

Stand in silence in the presence of the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1; NLT).

…………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Held in silence,

Encircled by love,

And flooded with light,

I rest, at peace

With you, Lord God,

In contemplation.

Like you

Put on your new nature, created to be like God – truly righteous and holy (Ephesians 4:24; NLT).

Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).

The Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image (2 Corinthians 3:18; NLT).

………………………………………………………………………………….

I love you, Lord,
With all my heart,

Yet this is nothing,
When compared

With all your love
For me.

Your heart and soul
Are infinite,

But mine
Are very small –

So, may I grow
In love, my Lord,

Till I become
Like you.
