Our souls

Lord God,
Our souls
Are infinitely holy,
Because they are forever
Part of you.

*********************

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy (Ephesians 1:4; NLT).

Be holy, because I am holy (1 Peter 1:16; NIV).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

God is Spirit (John 4:24; NLT).

In him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28, NIV).

There is […] one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

When I sit

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

Israel will bud and blossom and fill the whole earth with fruit! (Isaiah 27:6; NLT).

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles (Isaiah 40:31; NIV).

I am like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child I am content
(Psalm 131:2; NIV).

***************************************

Lord, when I sit
In silent contemplation

May I open my heart to you,
Like a budding rose;

Entrust my life to you,
Like a soaring bird;

And yield my soul to you,
Like a resting child.

May I slowly let go

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit (Luke 23:46; KJV).

I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one – as you are in me, Father, and I am in you (John 17:21; NLT).

**************************

Lord,
May I slowly let go of
My self,
Becoming aware
Of our oneness
In deep silence.

Lord,
May I slowly relinquish
My self,
Remaining aware
Of our oneness
Day and night.

Lord,
May I slowly surrender
My self,
Fully aware
Of our oneness
In life, and in death.

Help me to seek you

When you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private (Matthew 6:6; NLT).

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

If only you would listen to his voice today! (Psalm 95:7; NLT).

You are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16; NLT).

****************************

Lord,

Help me to seek you
In solitude,

Search for you
In darkness,

Wait for you
In stillness,

And listen for your voice
In silence,

So I may find you –
Deep within my soul.

My essence

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

I love you, Lord (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

You are God, my only safe haven (Psalm 43:2; NLT).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

****************************

Father,
My essence,
I seek you;

Father,
My ocean,
My night.

Father,
My desert,
I love you.

Father,
My haven,
My light.

You can’t be hurried

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God (Romans 8:28; NLT).

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

********************************

Lord, you can’t be hurried,
Or restricted;

You cannot be controlled,
Or made to wait.

Lord, you can’t be pressured,
Or commanded;

You are never early,
Never late.

Instead, your timing, Lord,
Is always perfect –

You make things work together
For our good;

So, may we seek you humbly,
And with patience,

As we wait in contemplation,
Full of love.

Your love

Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity (1 Timothy 4:12; NLT).

You yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind (Titus 2:7; NLT).

*************************

Lord,

May your love
Fill the world
Through our behaviour,
And your light
Shine on everyone
Through us.

May your truth
Come to all
Through how we listen,
And your way
Be revealed
Through how we live.

How can I thank you?

Christ lives within you (Romans 8:10; NLT).

All who confess that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God (1 John 4:15; NLT).

You are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16; NLT).

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; KJV).

*****************************

How can I thank you, Lord,
For all you give me?

How can I make amends
For all my sin?

How can I tell you, Lord,
How much I love you?

How can I ever thank you,
God within?

Beyond your light

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

The Lord your God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; NKJV).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

****************************

Lord,
Beyond your light,
I find your raging fire.

Lord,
Beyond your fire,
I find your blissful peace.

Lord,
Beyond your peace,
I find your perfect truth.

Lord,
Beyond your truth,
I find your endless love.

Love

As I have loved you, so you must love one another (John 13:34; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

There is a spirit within people, the breath of the Almighty within them (Job 32:8; NLT).

****************************

Lord,
Loving you
Means loving everyone
For you are love,
And you are in
All we meet.
