Forgive us our sins as we have forgiven those who sin against us (Matthew 6:12; NLT).

Lord,
When I tell you
I’ve forgiven
Those who hurt me,
We both know
It’s no more
Than wishful thinking.

It can be tough. Thinking about it, perhaps forgiveness is a learning process that comes about in stages. I’ve often felt that I’ve forgiven someone for something, but the hurt still rears itself every now and again. Maybe it’s learning to live with that. So simple in theory, but difficult in practice.
Yes, I can chime in with all that you wrote. Oddly enough, I wrote a very short prayer about this yesterday:
Lord,
The struggle to forgive
Those who have hurt us
Can be the longest, hardest battle
Of our lives.

It sounds as if we do indeed have quite a bit in common! XXXX
