This reminds me of something I read in Paul Veliyathil’s book, ‘God is Plural: Sermons for an Emerging Church’. He said it helps us to love others, even when it seems difficult, if we can aspire to recognise the divinity in them.
Yes, that’s right. One of my favourite prayers, which I say every morning, goes like this:
Lord God, whoever you bring into our path today, may we see Christ in them, and may they see Christ in us. For your love’s sake, Amen.

I’ll memorise that prayer … I so much need to be aware of that.
