When you look

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us (Colossians 3:11; NLT).

There is one Lord […] who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12; NRSV).

**************************************************

When you look
Into an infant’s face,
See Jesus;

When you look
Into a neighbour’s face,
See Christ.

When you look
Into a workmate’s face,
See Jesus;

When you look
Into a stranger’s face,
See Christ.

When you look
Into a rival’s face,
See Jesus;

When you look
Into a mirror, friend,
See Christ.

  • This reminds me of something I read in Paul Veliyathil’s book, ‘God is Plural: Sermons for an Emerging Church’. He said it helps us to love others, even when it seems difficult, if we can aspire to recognise the divinity in them.

    • Yes, that’s right. One of my favourite prayers, which I say every morning, goes like this:

      Lord God, whoever you bring into our path today, may we see Christ in them, and may they see Christ in us. For your love’s sake, Amen.

      Unfortunately, I don’t know who the author is, but it’s very precious! XXX

    • Hope it will help. I’m very keen on memorising and using the prayers that speak to me most each day. Over time, they become part of my thinking, which is really helpful XXX
