Glimpse the invisible

To the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory (1 Timothy 1;17; NIV).

After the fire a still small voice (1 Kings 19:12; KJV).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; NKJV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them (1 John 4:16; NLT).

*******************************

When we glimpse the invisible;

Hear the silent whisper;

Sense the truth;

Experience peace;

And share in love –

We know we’re in the presence
Of our God.

Love

I love you, Lord (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

*********************************

The love
With which
I love you, Lord,
Is your love
Loving me –
For we
Are one.

Transient self

Anyone who loses his life because of me will find it (Matthew 10:39; CSB).

Keep on seeking and you will find (Luke 11:9; NLT).

How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble! (Job 14:1; NLT).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

**********************************

When I lose
My transient self
In contemplation,

I find
My everlasting self
In you.

Holy is your name

Your name is holy! (Psalm 99:3; NLT).

*************************************

Father,
There is none beside you –
Holy is your name.

I worship, praise,
And thank you, Lord –
Holy is your name.

During life,
And after death –
Holy is your name.

You’re in me,
And I’m in you –
Holy is your name.

You are One,
And you are all –
Holy is your name.

Being right

Blessed are the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9; NIV).

Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing (Luke 23:34; NLT).

Let love be your highest goal! (1 Corinthians 14:1; NLT).

************************************

Father,

Being right
Is not important –

Making peace
Is important;

Forgiving
Is important;

And loving
Must remain

Our highest
Goal.

I’m content

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light (Micah 7:8; NLT).

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day (2 Corinthians 4:16; NLT).

****************************************

Father, I’m content with silence;
Father, I’m content with sound.

Father, I’m content with darkness;
Father, I’m content with light.

Father, I’m content with stillness;
Father, I’m content with work.

Father, I’m content with dying,
Father, I’m content with life.

If I return

Only in returning to me […] will you be saved (Isaiah 30:15; NLT).

*************************************

If I return to you, Lord,
Will you return to me?

If I believe in you, Lord,
Will you believe in me?

If I speak truth to you, Lord,
Will you speak truth to me?

If I have faith in you, Lord,
Will you have faith in me?

If I dwell in your presence,
Will you, Lord, dwell in me?

And if I say I love you,
Will you say you love me?

Our task

Do not judge others, and you will not be judged (Matthew 7:1-2; NLT).

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ (Ephesians 5:2; NLT).

We will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

*********************************

Father,

Our task
Isn’t judging
Other people,

Or telling them
What they should
Say and do.

Instead,

It’s to become
Much more
Like Jesus –

Righteous,
Holy,
Loving all,

Like you.

Hurt is inevitable

If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone (Matthew 18:15; NRSV).

So then, putting away all falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbours, for we are members of one another. Be angry but do not sin (Ephesians 4:25-6; NRSV).

We will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).

*********************************

Lord,

In all relationships
And groups,
Hurt is inevitable.

What counts
Is how we handle it
When it occurs.

Basically,
We have two choices:

We can face,
Discuss,
And resolve each issue
As it arises,
Then move forward
With a better understanding
Of one another;

Or:

We can allow the hurts
To build up,
Unexpressed,
Undiscussed
And unresolved,
Until the relationship concerned
Breaks down completely –

The choice is ours.

In contemplation

You are close beside me (Psalm 23:4; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

****************************

Lord,

In contemplation,
I don’t even need

To let my thoughts
And feelings go.

I simply let them be
Just as they are,

Whilst I look on,
With you beside me,

Watching and waiting
Till they fade away,

And only you
And I remain

As one.
