Patient silence

When you pray, don’t babble on as people of other religions do (Matthew 6:7; NLT).

If only you would listen to his voice today! (Psalm 95:7; NLT).

Wait patiently for the Lord (Psalm 27:14; NIV).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

*******************************

Lord,

Forgive us
When we pray

Without listening
For your voice,

And help us
To wait for you

In patient
Silence.

God’s will

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them (Romans 12.9; NLT).

******************************************

If a thought isn’t loving,
It isn’t God’s will;

If a word isn’t loving,
It isn’t God’s will;

If a deed isn’t loving,
It isn’t God’s will –

However right
We like to think we are!

The kingdom of God

Friends, let us live
In the kingdom of God,

For though other people
Might think we are odd,

As we love, and forgive,
As we serve, and rejoice,

We will show all we meet
They can make the same choice.

*************************************

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; NKJV).

Love your neighbour as yourself (Matthew 22:39; NIV).

Love your enemies (Matthew 5:44; NIV).

Forgive anyone who offends you (Colossians 3:13; NLT).

Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all (Mark 9:35; NIV).

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NIV).

************************************

God is waiting

The Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion (Isaiah 30:18; NLT).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

*************************

God is waiting
In your wastelands;

God is waiting
In your fear;

God is waiting
In your darkness –

Come to him
In silent prayer.

Lost in you

Many thanks to my friend Graham, who sent me an email that triggered this prayer.

He comforts us in all our troubles (2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT).

The Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17; NLT).

How kind the Lord is! (Psalm 116:5; NLT).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

*************************************

Lost in you, Lord God,
I find your comfort.

Lost in you, Lord God,
I find release.

Lost in you, Lord God,
I find your kindness.

Lost in you, Lord God,
I find your peace.

One with you

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

There is one Lord […] who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:39; NLT).

*********************************

When I close my eyes
I’m one with you, Lord,

And when I open them,
I’m one with you.

When I go to sleep
I’m one with you, Lord,

And when I wake up
I am one with you.

When I’m walking
I am one with you, Lord,

And when I’m resting
I am one with you.

When I’m silent
I am one with you, Lord,

And when I pray aloud
I’m one with you;

So, as long as I’m alive
I’m one with you, Lord,

And when I die
I’ll still be one with you.

Footprints

Righteousness will go before him, and shall make his footsteps our pathway (Psalm 85:13; NKJV).

Uphold my steps in your paths (Psalm 17:5; NKJV).

I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you (John 13:15; NLT).

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ (Ephesians 5:2; NLT).

God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example and you must follow in his steps (1 Peter 2:21; NLT).

**************************************

Lord,

Thank you
For your footprints –

Help us follow
Where you trod;

And for
Your life’s example –

Help us follow you
To God.

A hundred thousand stages

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them (Romans 12.9; NLT).

This is the secret: Christ lives in you (Colossians 1:27; NLT).

It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20; NLT).

Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).

************************************

Jesus,
By a hundred thousand stages,

May we learn to love all beings –
Just like you.

Hidden in my flesh

Hidden in my flesh,
I sense your kingdom.

Hidden in my mind,
I know your grace.

Hidden in my heart,
I find your temple.

Hidden in my soul,
I see your face.

**************************

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind (Luke 10:27; NLT).

Your real life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3; NLT).

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; KJV).

You live under the freedom of God’s grace (Romans 6:14; NLT).

You are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16; NLT).

I will […] see your face (Psalm 17:15; NIV).

God created human beings in his own image (Genesis 1:27; NLT).

Sacred elements

Lord,

Thank you for this
Heavenly, holy world,

And all the sacred elements
Of life –

For earth
And air;

For water, Lord,
And fire;

For peace,
And truth;

And, far above all others, Lord,
For love.

*****************************

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1; NLT).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24; NIV).

God is the spring of living water (Jeremiah 2:13; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; NKJV).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love (Galatians 5:6; NIV).
