Dust

Lord,

You make us all from dust;
You know how weak we are.

You send us into exile here,
And watch us from afar.

Lord,

You make us all from dust;
To dust we all return.

Then our souls reunite with you,
The One for whom we yearn.

  • I was just reading today that, since we are made from dust, we are all God’s little mud pies! :D (‘To Grow in Love: A Spirituality of Ageing’ by Brian Grogan)

    • What a great idea! I remember a charming tale from childhood of Jesus’ early life. Jesus was playing with mud and shaped some little birds, which came to life and flew away. I don’t know where it came from, possibly the Apocrypha, of which I’m very ignorant XXXX

      • I’ve heard that too, Ruth. I think it comes from the Gospel of Thomas, but that’s about all I know. It’s nice to think of Jesus doing things like that when he was a child. :)

      • Oh, how lovely! I’ve never know anyone else who had heard it, and I’ve sometimes wondered if I imagined it. Will do a bit of digging, and will let you know if I find anything XXXXXX
