Will there be knives in heaven?

Will there be knives in heaven?
I’m sure, Lord, that there won’t,
For none there can ignore
The Father’s will;

And you, Lord, taught us clearly,
Throughout your time on earth:
Don’t lie, deceive, or steal –
And do not kill.

Will there be guns in heaven?
I’m confident there won’t,
For none there can dismiss
The Father’s will;

And you, Lord, taught us clearly,
Throughout your time on earth:
Don’t mock, condemn, or judge –
And do not kill.

Will there be bombs in heaven?
I’m certain that there won’t,
For none there can refuse
The Father’s will;

And you, Lord, taught us clearly,
Throughout your time on earth:
Don’t hate, despise, or harm –
And do not kill.

So how, Lord, could we ever want
To end another’s life,
When such deeds mean rejecting
All that’s good?

For you, Lord, taught us clearly,
Throughout your time on earth,
That we must build your kingdom here,
With love.
