Everything you make

You shine
On everything you make,
And everything you make
Reflects your light.

You kindle
Everything you make,
And everything you make
Burns with your fire.

You breathe
On everything you make,
And everything you make
Exhales your peace.

You speak
Through everything you make,
And everything you make
Declares your truth.

You care
For everything you make,
And everything you make
Reveals your love.

You dwell
In everything you make,
And everything you make
Depends on you.

God is light (1 John 1:5; NLT).

The Lord your God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; NKJV).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

There is one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

They all depend on you (Psalm 104:27; NLT).

We are one

Every time I fail
To love my neighbour,
Help me to remember
We are one.

Every time I fail
To love a foreigner,
Help me to remember
We are one.

Every time I fail
To love a stranger,
Help me to remember
We are one.

And every time I fail
To love my enemy,
Help me to remember
We are one.

Love your neighbour (Mark 12:31; NLT).

Show love to foreigners (Deuteronomy 10:19; NLT).

Love ye therefore the stranger (Deuteronomy 10:19; KJV).

Love your enemies (Matthew 5:44; NLT).

You are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28; NLT).

I am yours, you are mine

You fashioned my body,
Established my mind;
Quickened my heart, Lord,
And furnished my soul:

For you are my Maker,
My bread and my wine;
O Giver of Life, I am yours,
You are mine.

Restore my poor body,
And settle my mind;
Comfort my heart, Lord,
And nourish my soul:

For you are my Healer,
Through bread and through wine;
O Giver of Peace, I am yours,
You are mine.

Then, strengthen my body;
Enlighten my mind;
Kindle my heart, Lord,
And stir up my soul:

For you are my Saviour,
In bread and in wine;
O Giver of Love, I am yours,
You are mine.

The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7; KJV).

Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.” And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood” (Matthew 26:26-8; NLT).

My beloved is mine and I am his (Song of Songs 2:16; NIV).

Trials and sorrows

You send us many trials
And sorrows –
Many opportunities
To grow.

This means putting all our faith
In you, Lord;
This means trusting you,
And letting go.

When we kick against your will
We suffer –
Anger only adds
To what we face;

But, when we accept your will
As Christ did,
We rejoice –
Sufficient is your grace!

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

When your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow (James 1:3; NLT).

If you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you (1 Peter 4:19; NLT).

Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his  last (Luke 23:46; NLT).

Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? You are hurting yourself by kicking against the goads (Acts 26:14; NET).

If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine (Matthew 26:39; NLT).

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NIV).

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9; NIV).

In good and ill

Many thanks to Corrin Leavey,
who painted this beautiful artwork,
and allowed me to use it.

In good and ill
I long for you,
And you, Lord,
Long for me.

In good and ill
I seek you, Lord,
And you, Lord God,
Seek me.

In good and ill
I talk to you,
And you, Lord,
Talk to me.

In good and ill
I love you, Lord,
And you, Lord God,
Love me.

I long for you, O God (Psalm 42:1; NLT).

The Lord longs to be gracious to you (Isaiah 30:18; NIV).

I earnestly seek for God (Isaiah 26:9; NLT).

The Son of Man came to seek […] those who are lost (Luke 19:10; NLT).

Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning (Psalm 5:1; NLT).

As soon as I pray, you answer me (Psalm 138:3; NLT).

I love you, Lord (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

My heart is full of worries

My heart is full of worries, Lord,
Concerns I can’t subdue;

Resentment, fear, remorse, and shame –
I don’t know what to do.

So these become my prayers, Lord,
And I share them all with you;

We work on them together,
Talking every problem through.

Then my poor mind grows clearer
As your way comes into view;

My plans are laid; my heart grows light;
And your peace falls like dew.

I am poor and needy, and my heart is full of pain (Psalm 109:22; NLT).

O God, you know how foolish I am; my sins cannot be hidden from you (Psalm 69:5; NLT).

Make your way plain for me to follow (Pslam 5:8; NLT).

The peace I give is a gift the world cannot give (John 14:27; NLT).

I will be to Israel like a refreshing dew from heaven (Hosea 14:5; NLT).

Through Jesus

We praise our God
Through you, his Son, our Saviour,

And humbly ask forgiveness
Through your name.

All healing is requested
Through your title;

All signs and wonders worked, Lord,
Through the same.

So may we spread the Gospel
Through your power;

In all we say, may we
Become like you,

Whilst always giving thanks
Through you to heaven,

And serving God
Through everything we do.

Let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name (Hebrews 13:15; NLT).

Everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name (Acts 10:43; NET).

Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus (Acts 4:30; NIV).

Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name (Romans 1:5; NLT).

Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Colossians 3:17; RSV).
