When I was one with God
Before my birth,
I didn’t know
That I would come to earth.
And when I came to earth,
A little child,
I didn’t realise
I had been exiled.
When I was exiled here
To seek and yearn,
I never guessed
How much I’d have to learn.
And when I learned
How hard this life can be,
I didn’t think
Salvation would be free.
When I found new hope
Through Jesus Christ,
I didn’t grasp
What he had sacrificed.
And when I understood
His gift of love,
I never thought
That I would drink his blood.
When I drank his blood
He made me whole.
At last, I knew my origin
And goal.
So I pursue that goal
With all my might –
To reunite with God,
Who shares our plight.
