Waiting (#1of 2 linked prayers)

Wait for the Lord (Psalm 37:34; NIV).

I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn
(Psalm 130:6; NLT).

1. I wait in silence,
Longing to hear your voice.

2. I wait in stillness,
Longing to share your life.

3. I wait, alone, Lord,
Longing to take your hand.

4. I wait in darkness,
Longing to see your light.

References

1. Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

After the fire [came] a still small voice (1 Kings 19:12; NKJV).

2. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies (2 Corinthians 4:10; NLT).

3. When you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private (Matthew 6:6; NLT).

I will take you by the hand (Isaiah 42:6; NLT).

4. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light (Micah 7:8; NLT).

    • That’s so sad. One of the things I love about my local church is that there is plenty of silence during weekday masses. I’m not a fan of lots of singing and talking out loud XXXX

      • That is great Ruth, sadly silence is under-rated nowadays. Incidentally since this post I have learned a precious lesson about waiting today, which became todays post for me. Our God is Good sister, let us wait for Him.🙏

      • Hi Alan, it’s always lovely to hear your “voice”. Yes, silence is so important, because we can’t listen to what God wants to say to us unless we stop speaking. I’d love to hear a bit more about what you have learned, if you want to share, but I don’t want to pry if it’s private XXXXX
