Jesus doesn’t ask me

We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathise with our weaknesses,
but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are –
yet he did not sin (Hebrews 4:15; NIV).

1. Jesus doesn’t ask me
To go anywhere he hasn’t been,
Or to walk his narrow path alone.

2. Jesus doesn’t ask me
To face anything he hasn’t feared,
Or to cope with anguish on my own.

3. Jesus doesn’t ask me
To bear anything he hasn’t borne,
Or to suffer pain without his care.

4. Jesus doesn’t ask me
To love anyone he doesn’t love:
Instead, he waits to take my hand, and share.

  • You are so right here Ruth, sometimes in our own anguish or pain we forget our blessed Lord suffered in the same way. Knowing that He knows and understands from His humanity is soothing to the soul.
I checked out my local radio station (Kingdom fm) but they don’t have any “Thought/scripture for the day.” I approached a few Christian web pages a couple of weeks ago, but have had no reply thus far. I am confident that God has all this in His hand. How are your enquiries going?

    • Hi, Alan, yes, he knows, shares, and cares about everything, no matter what, which is truly amazing. If God wants you to do Thought for the Day, I’m sure your opportunity will eventually come. Could it possibly be a hospital radio station? Really, sorry, I’ve wracked my brains and looked back through our recent correspondence, but I can’t for the life of me think what enquiries you’re referring to. Please could you remind me? XXXXX

      • Did you not make enquiries with a radio station recently, forgive me if I am mistaken. Bertie BrainTumour plays with my memory often, haha.

      • No, that’s not me. I used to do TftD, but had to give it up, as it was too much for my limited energy. Plus, my natural way of working isn’t suited to it. It was very enjoyable though XXXX

  • Greetings, Ruth.

This excellent piece brought to mind Hebrews 12:2-3:

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

    God’s best to you.
