The wilderness of life

Just as the Lord our God commanded us, we left Mount Sinai
and travelled through the great and terrifying wilderness
(Deuteronomy 1:19; NLT).

1. Lord Jesus Christ, I seek you
In the wilderness
Of life.

2. Please teach me how to find you
In the wilderness
Of prayer.

3. Lord, let me get to know you
In the wilderness
You trod.

4. Then we will live together,
In the wilderness
Of God.

The Lord your God cared for you all along the way
as you travelled through the wilderness,
just as a father cares for his child
(Deuteronomy 1:31; NLT).

1. Keep on seeking, and you will find (Luke 11:9; NLT).

Some wandered in the wilderness, lost and homeless (Psalm 107:4; NLT).

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

2. Lord, teach us to pray (Luke 11:1; NLT).

Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil (Matthew 4:1; NLT).

Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer (Luke 5:16; NLT).

3. Then their eyes were opened and they knew him (Luke 24:31; NKJV).

4. They will live in the barren wilderness (Jeremiah 17:6; NLT).

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me (Psalm 23:4; NLT).

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8; NLT).

  • The wilderness is a tough place for a believer; God seems far away and prayer is difficult. But it is in these times we must cling on to our Lifeboat! Thank you Ruth.

  • I like the next sentence of John 16:33: “But take heart, I have overcome the world.” May He give us the faith each day to overcome, Ruth. Things are up in the air in my country—due to the upcoming 🗳 election. Please pray for the U.S.A., and for Christians here to be salt and light. Blessings.

    • Oh, David, I had no idea that you live in the USA. You have my great sympathy and concern. We’ve just been discussing the situation there over dinner. I will indeed pray for you all xxxxxxx

      • America is in a very serious situation. I pray for the best and clearest election result possible and for the peaceful transfer of power. May this be followed by deep, long-term healing for your whole country and all its people XXXXX
