I’d like to be your helper

Stop and help
(Exodus 23: NLT).

I’d like to be your helper, Lord,
Befriending one and all.

I’d like to be your servant, Lord,
Assisting those who fall.

I’d like to be your slave, Lord,
Loving stranger, friend, and foe,

But I’m happy to be nothing, Lord –
The lowest of the low.

I am nothing
(Job 40:4; NLT).

You will be brought low; from the earth you will speak, and from the dust where you are prostrate your words will come. Your voice will also be like that of a spirit from the ground, and your speech will whisper from the dust
(Isaiah 294; NASB 1995).

I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people
(Ephesians 3:8; NIV).

  • I had to smile at the first stanza, for it truly describes you Ruth.- “I’d like to be your helper, Lord,
Befriending one and all.” You truly are His helper and one who befriends others. Although I have never met you in person and know you through your writing and our wordpress dialogue, your writing has truly helped me, your prayers are a daily blessing, and I consider you a friend and sister in Christ. I know one day we will meet face to face in heaven. Beth:)

    • Hi, Beth, such kind words, for which many thanks, all that matters is if just one person finds some help here. Knowing that you sometimes do is fantastic. Let’s make an a[ointment to meet in heaven, sister! XXXXX
