He makes darkness his secret place
(Psalm 18:11; LSV).
When the sun sets on the hill,
Does God withdraw?
No, for he’s in darkness,
As in light.
When affliction blights my life,
Does God withdraw?
No, for he’s in weakness,
As in might.
When depression breaks my heart,
Does God withdraw?
No, for he’s in weeping,
As in cheer.
When anguish fills my soul,
Does God withdraw?
No, for he’s in all,
And he is here.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me (Psalm 23:4; KJV).
What a beautiful uplifting devotional poem, He is forever present by our side in all weather, good and bad!

Ruth, this is so beautiful. I have a friend who is wrestling with some life challenges and depression. I’m going to print this and share it with her. I will be praying that your poetry will shift her eyes from her circumstances to the Savior who is with her and will guide her through this time.
Thank you so much for telling me about your friend. I do hope she will find some help and comfort through your friendship, and your kind actions XXXXXX
