Inner light

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

Father,
Though my path is dark,
You are my inner light,

And,
Though my mind is troubled, Lord,
You are my inner peace.

Father,
Though my heart is cold,
You are my inner fire,

And,
Though my soul is shallow, Lord,
You are my inner truth.

God is love, and the one who dwells in love is dwelling in God, and God in him. By this spiritual indwelling, the love of God is perfected within us.
(1 John 4:16-17; AFV).

  • He is our inner fire in our dark days, Amen! This reminds me of our roaring coal fire on dark and cold winter mornings when I was a boy; this is how I see Him this morning comforting us from the cold dark world that surrounds us.
Thank you for your precious encouragement Ruth, may He bless you on this Lord’s Day sister.

    • May God bless you, too, Alan, and many thanks for your kind words. We are very slowly clearing an attic room and making it into a quiet room. An important element arrived on Friday when we took delivery of a wonderful, electric “log-burning” stove. It’s realistic enough to satisfy exactly the same memories and yearnings for me, so I’m delighted with it. It will be a great aid to sitting quietly XXXXXX
