12.8.23: Hot sweats

Fiery furnace, in the Catacombs of Priscilla, Rome: Wikimedia Commons.

I have had hot sweats every 30-40 minutes for many years. As the next one broke out yesterday morning, these short couplets simply burst into my mind, overtaking me completely.

This prayer describes a very practical way of responding as each sweat strikes. I can say it as I rip off my jumper and set my electric fan to its maximum setting.

Our skin heats up like an oven.
(Lamentations 5:10; NAB).

My days disappear like smoke, and my bones burn like red-hot coals.
(Psalm 102:3; NLT).

Lord, I’m HOT!
So what? It’s fine,

For I am yours,
And you are mine.

I’ll make this sweat
A sacrifice

Of prayer for all,
Lord Jesus Christ.

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
(1 Timothy 2:1; NLT).
