Forgive my sins

I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word
(Isaiah 66:2; NLT).

Lord,
Forgive my sins today;
Help me to start afresh.

Lord,
Forgive my faults today;
Help me to serve anew.

Lord,
Forgive my flaws today;
Help me to speak the truth.

Lord,
Please help and strengthen me,
So I may be like you.

We can’t claim any credit

When you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have only done our duty’ (Luke 17:10; NLT).

We can’t claim any credit, Lord,
For following your Son,
Because you give us faith
From heaven above.

We can’t claim any credit, Lord,
For holding him so dear,
Because you give our hearts
The gift of love.

We can’t claim any credit, Lord,
For spreading his Good News,
Because you fill our souls
With joy and peace.

We can’t claim any credit, Lord,
For serving you each day,
Because you make us all
Your holy priests.

The Son of God

The Son of God came down to earth
In flesh and bones and blood,
And now his Spirit lives in us
To show us all his love.

He struggled to survive this world
Of hunger, thirst, and cold,
And now his Spirit lives in us
To make us strong and bold.

He came to set the world on fire
With faith, and hope, and care,
And now his Spirit lives in us
To comfort, and to share.

He drained the dregs from sorrow’s cup
Of anguish, pain, and tears,
And now his Spirit lives in us
To help us face our fears.

Our Saviour suffered life and death,
Humble, poor, roughshod;
And now his Spirit lives in us
To guide us back to God.
