Giver of mercy

No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven
(John 3:27; NLT).

Giver of patience,
Our Mother, our life;

Giver of healing,
Our Saviour, our Priest;

Giver of comfort,
Our Spirit, our peace.

I’m insignificant

I know I’m insignificant
But I’m still part of you,

From long before you formed me
In the womb;

In birth, in life, in death, Lord,
Then far beyond the tomb –

I’m part of you forever,
And amen!

When we lose our inner light

Father,
When we lose
Our inner light,
May we walk by faith,
Instead of sight.

Jesus,
When we yield
Those we hold dear,
May we mourn with hope,
Instead of fear.

Spirit,
When we take
Our final breath,
May we know your love,
Instead of death.

Your justice

Your justice, Lord,
Is all that really matters,

Yet your mercy keeps no records
Or accounts;

And though we may reject
Your Son’s great teaching,

In the end
Our love is all that counts.

Every time I fail

Lord,

Every time I fail
To love my neighbours,

Strangers, migrants,
Enemies, or friends,

May I admit my guilt and shame
Before you,

Then turn to them,
And try to make amends.
