At your pleasure

Our lives are in his hands
(Psalm 66:9; NLT).

I live at your pleasure, my Father:
I’m wholly dependent on you.

You give me the breath which sustains me
In all that I think, say and do.

You give me food, water, and shelter;
The riches of land, sea, and sky.

You give me your loving salvation –
And when you say the word, I will die.

The Lord gives both life and death
(1 Samuel 2:6; NLT).

Lord (#2 of 2 linked poems)

Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:28-9; NKJV).

Lord,
You are
our wayside shrine,

Our sanctuary,
Our bread, our wine;

Our rest, our strength,
Our life, our breath,

Our resurrection,
after death.

Jesus told her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
Anyone who believes in me will live,
Even after dying” (John 11:25; NKJV).

💛

1. Lord,
You give me every breath I take;
This precious world,
And everything you make.

2. You give me food and water,
All I need;
Your only Son –
His life and death, my creed.

3. Lord,
You give me faith, and hope, and prayer;
Your light, your truth;
Your peace beyond compare.

4. You even give your Spirit,
From above;
And best of all, Lord God,
You give me love.

💛
