I know nothing

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are light;

Please shine upon me every day,
So I can see your might.

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are fire;

Consume my sins incessantly,
But shield me from your ire.

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are peace;

Comfort me in all my woes,
Until my life must cease.

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are grace;

Forgive and save me, Father God,
So I may see your face.

It whispers,
Speaks,

And sings!

Instead of prayer

You guide me on your way,
Though I can’t touch you.
I simply know you help me
Every day.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting
To fold me in your arms,
Where I will stay.

You speak the truth to me,
Though I can’t hear you.
Instead, I sense your voice
In silent prayer.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting.
We’ll talk; and I will know
Your loving care.

You are my daily bread,
Though I can’t taste you.
I only know your words
Are wise and true.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting,
And then, with joy,
I’ll feast my eyes on you.

You are my light each day,
Though I can’t see you;
I simply trust
That you are always there.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting,
Then I’ll gaze upon your face,
Instead of prayer.

Sacred elements

Lord,

Thank you for this
Heavenly, holy world,

And all the sacred elements
Of life –

For earth
And air;

For water, Lord,
And fire;

For peace,
And truth;

And, far above all others, Lord,
For love.
