💛

1. Lord,
You give me every breath I take;
This precious world,
And everything you make.

2. You give me food and water,
All I need;
Your only Son –
His life and death, my creed.

3. Lord,
You give me faith, and hope, and prayer;
Your light, your truth;
Your peace beyond compare.

4. You even give your Spirit,
From above;
And best of all, Lord God,
You give me love.

💛

💚

The God of love and peace will be with you
(2 Corinthians 13:11; NLT).

1. Just as water finds its way,
May your love stream through my heart,
And flow to others, as I try
To see you, Lord, in all, each day.

2. Just as water finds its course,
May your peace flood through my soul,
And spread to others, as I try
To show them, Lord, its perfect source.

The four elements

Image: Jerry Coli, Pixabay

1. In days to come, Lord,
Water will prevail,
As waves tear down
The barriers we make.

2. As time goes by,
The air we foul will fail,
Until we fight
For every breath we take.

3. With every year, Lord,
Fire will wreck more lives,
Razing cities;
Turning forests black.

4. And in the end,
This earth will be our grave,
For we exploit her,
Giving nothing back.

The breath of life

1. Lord,
You are the Breath of Life:
Our flesh, our bones, our blood;
Our strength, our mind, our heartbeat,
Our spirit, and our love.

2. Lord,
You are the Bread of Life:
Our water, and our wine;
Our land, our flocks, our shelter,
Our harvest, and our vine.

3. Lord,
You are the Light of Life:
Our lantern, staff, and rod;
Our way, our guide, our Shepherd,
Our Saviour, and our God.

4. Lord,
You are the Book of Life:
Our crucible, our soul;
Our faith, our hope, our passion,
Our dawning, and our goal.

Water into wine

Hello everyone. The work of a poet is never done! I’ve just made some revisions in today’s prayer, and thought some of you might be interested to see the difference changing a word or two can make:

Lord,
You are amazing!

You spilled
Your precious blood

So all my sins
Can be transformed,

And turned, instead,
To love.

Lord,
You are amazing!

I’m yours,
And you are mine.

Now all my sins
Have turned to love –

Like water
Into wine.
