Old and weary

Now that I am old and grey,
do not abandon me, O God
(Psalm 71:18; NLT).

Father,
I am old and weary,
Sick and fragile,
Weak, in pain.

Give me, Lord,
The hope I long for;
Grant me, Lord,
Your strength again.

Father,
I am sad and lonely,
Selfish,
Sinful to the core.

Send me, Lord,
The faith I search for;
Show me, Lord,
Your love once more.

Show me your unfailing love
(Psalm 17:7; NLT).

Your right hand will hold me fast
(Psalm 139:10; NIV).

1. Hold me fast
When I forget you.

2. Hold me, Father,
When I stray.

3. Hold me close
When I am weary.

4. Hold me
When I cannot pray.

5. Hold me safe
When I’m in danger.

6. Hold me, Father,
When I cry.

7. Hold me tight
When I’m in pain,

8. And hold me, Lord,
When I must die.

When I try to pray

Father,

1. When I try to pray
In vain,
Wearied by distress,
Or fear, or pain,

2. Help me, instead, to rest
Safe in your hand,
Because you care,
And always understand.
