“If” prayers

1. If you want to see God’s face

I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
(Jeremiah 1:5; NLT).

If you want to see
God’s face

Follow Christ,
Whose perfect grace

Will guide you
On the path he trod,

And gently lead you
Back to God.

🖤

The dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

2. If we walk in Christ’s light

I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life (John 8:12; NLT).

If we walk in Christ’s light
We grow in his truth,
Live in his love,
And rest in his peace.

Then we shine with his light,
And broadcast his truth,
Offer his love,
And scatter his peace.

🖤

As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you (John 20:21; NLT).

3. If you want to follow Christ

Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me” (Matthew 4:19; NLT).

If you want
To follow Christ,

Share his
Humble sacrifice,

And walk the stony path
He trod,

For Christ will lead you
Back to God.

🖤

If we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering
(Romans 8:17; NLT).

4. If you want to follow Christ

If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways,
take up your cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24; NLT).

If you want to follow  Christ,
Face all you feel
With love.

If you want to live like him,
Treat every thought
With love.

If you want to grow like Christ,
Say every word
With love;

And if you want to be like him,
Serve everyone
With love.

🖤

Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last,
and the servant of all
 (Mark 9:35; NIV).

5. If you cease to speak in prayer

My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? (Psalm 22:1; NLT).

If you cease to speak
In prayer,
May I have faith
That you still care.

If you cease to speak
In pain,
May I accept
All you ordain.

If you cease to speak
In grief,
May I cling tight
To your belief;

And, if you cease to speak
In death,
May I hold fast
Till my last breath.

🖤

Into your hands I commit my spirit  (Psalm 31:5; NIV).
