One with you

Lord,
We’re one with you
Before our birth —

One light with you;
One truth; one peace;
One love.

We thirst for you
In exile,
Here on earth;

Then reunite
With you,
In heaven above.

Your breath is my soul

You formed me, Father,
Then I came to birth.

The cord was cut –
Survival was my goal.

You breathed the breath of life
Into my body,

And thus your Spirit, Lord,
Became my soul.

May I always know
Your Spirit’s presence;

May I pray in him
Till my last breath.

Then my bones will go back
To the dust, Lord,

But my soul will merge with you
Beyond my death.

I’m insignificant

I know I’m insignificant
But I’m still part of you,

From long before you formed me
In the womb;

In birth, in life, in death, Lord,
Then far beyond the tomb –

I’m part of you forever,
And amen!

My only strength

Lord,

You are
My only strength –

I have none
Of my own.

I love you, Lord,
With all my mind –

May my thoughts
Be your home.

I love you, Lord,
With all my heart –

Your temple
Here on earth.

I love you, Lord,
With all my soul –

The stable
Of your birth.

Resting place

Lord God,

We are your resting place
From birth.

You live within our hearts –
Your realm on earth.

You dwell within us, Lord,
Till our last breath.

Then you become our resting place
In death.

Each life conceived

You are each life conceived;
Each messy birth;

You are the air we breathe;
All life on earth.

You are the light we see;
The storms we brave;

You are each heartfelt plea;
The peace we crave.

You are our comfort here;
Our daily bread;

You are the fire we fear;
The judge we dread.

You are the way to live;
The pain we face;

You are the love we give;
The source of grace.

You are the food we eat;
The cup we drink;

You are the truth we seek –
Our missing link.
