New day

Thank you, Lord,
For this new day.

May I rejoice
Along the way,

Express your love
In all I say,

And never cease
To watch and pray.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NIV).

Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation (Matthew 26:41; NIV).

Yours and mine

The Father’s peace
Is yours and mine,
And theirs, and ours –
Though all else fails.

The Father’s truth
Is yours and mine,
And theirs, and ours –
For he prevails.

The Father’s light
Is yours and mine,
And theirs, and ours –
It cannot cease.

The Father’s love
Is yours and mine,
And theirs, and ours –
May it increase!

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

The peace of God, that passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7; RSV).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; NKJV).

In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth (Psalm 45:4; NLT).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NLT).

The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it (John 1:5; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

May the Lord make your love increase (1 Thessalonians 3:12; NIV).

When I die

When I die
My breath will slowly dwindle,

My thoughts and feelings fade,
My heartbeat cease;

Then my soul, with joy,
Will leave this body,

To reunite with you
In perfect peace.

In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind (Job 12:10; NIV).

O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you (Psalm 84:12; NLT).

Return, O my soul, to your rest (Psalm 116:7; NRSV).

Then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NLT).

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you (Isaiah 26:3; NLT).

light, fire, love, peace, prayer, faith, contemplation, God,

I know nothing

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are light;

Please shine upon me every day,
So I can see your might.

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are fire;

Consume my sins incessantly,
But shield me from your ire.

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are peace;

Comfort me in all my woes,
Until my life must cease.

I know nothing of you, Lord,
Except that you are grace;

Forgive and save me, Father God,
So I may see your face.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8; NLT).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power (Ephesians 1:19; NLT).

God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24; NIV).

The Lord your God is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you (Deuteronomy 6:15; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT).

God saved you by his grace when you believed (Ephesians 2:8; NLT).

Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12; NRSV).

Personal growth, faith, prayer, contemplation, love, oneness,

So many prayers

Their nets were so full of fish they began to tear […] Soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking (Luke 5:6-7; NLT).

You give so many prayers –
I can’t keep up,

Like the fishermen
Whose catch was very great.

Their nets began to tear,
Their boats to sink –

They needed your assistance
With the weight.

Please help me to maintain
My contemplation.

Please help me, Lord,
To note down every piece.

Please help me to continue
With my writing –

Until the day you want me, Lord,
To cease.
